A VIDEO SHOWING two priests engage in a ferocious dance-off in the Vatican is going viral. In the video, Rev. David Rider and Rev. John Gibson can be seen pitting tap dancing against Irish dancing and it is incredible.
Rider kicks off the battle with a slick tap routine, only to be outdone by Gibson who performs a ridiculously quick-footed Irish jig. After a bit of back-and-forth, they eventually perform an Irish dance alongside one another.
The video was filmed back in April by a journalist named Joan Lewis who was attending a fundraiser at the North American College, an American seminary in the Vatican.
Despite being uploaded six months ago, however, the video is only now starting to go viral. (Ah, the beautiful mystery that is the internet.) As of October 22nd, the video had been viewed just over 257,000 times.
Now the video’s views have skyrocketed and it’s at 652,000 and counting, all of which can likely be attributed to the video being shared by several major news outlets.
According to this video, Rev. David Rider was actually a professional tap dancer, performing in many shows and national tours. He left his fledgling career to join the priesthood.
No word on where Rev. John Gibson’s serious Irish dancing skills originate, but he is apparently a hardcore Liverpool fan. So there you go.
